I keep thinking about it. I will owe around $4,000 on my '98 come this fall. I am thinking about selling it for like say $10 with or without mods, depending on what I feel like doing. Then I will pay off what I still owe, and then use most of the rest as a downpayment on a 2002 Spec V. Any one else? I could always do a trade in but I think I'll be losing too much money.

lord knows i'm not. if it had a sleepy look and a sr20de i'd consider it, but then i'd be wanting a sentra se.

honestly, i don't want one. it's not (in my opinion) a true se-r. that and i'm 16 so there's no way i could afford one, lol.

I thought about buying one w/o selling my SE-R. Too much personal hard work on the SE-R to sell it.

But now I am thinking about a Lexus IS300. A 5 speed in 2002. I want my next car to be a RWD and a 6 cylinder. The aftermarket on the car is growing. It should be a good car to buy when the 5 speed comes out in June or August.

no way! I'll never part with my SE-R. I am considering getting the new one to compliment it...

i havn't heard that much about the engine on the new se-r. i'd wait at least a year. that way it will allow time for people to figure out what the motor can handle. from what i've heard rumored around, the new engine is suppost to be a bastard to work on/upgrade anything. so who knows.

True true true. What to do what to do

The part that does bother me as some of you said is the whether or not it will be mod-friendly. For a new car, if I can just get a CAI and an exhaust I would be happy with it in the first year. I wouldn't be expecting too much.

Ahh, I would do the same if I had the finances. I love those cars, and the 5 speed will make them even better.

Ooooh and I forgot to mention, probably the biggest factor whether or not I get the 2002 spec V is how fast it is. Meaning, it MUST be noticeably faster than my 98 (my 98 has CAI/header/Cams) If it's not then theres no point as I'm sure mine handles better with all the suspension mods as well.

After reading Sport Compact Car's preview of the new engine, it made me think.

The catalytic converter is right on the header. An aftermarket one would be a bitch.

Is it still going to be plagued by short suspension travel?

I really do like the new SE-R, but I will wait for some 1/4 & 0-60 numbers before I consider. Oh, and the ever important $$$$ numbers too.

ya, too much time spent on my car to get rid of it. also, if I sold it, I would not get that much for it on a trade in.

Not me. I am sure a lot of people who sold their BMW2002's for the new 320i regret it after seeing them 25+ years later saying, "..man I remember when I had one of those...". My NX2000 is the equivalent to my in-laws Datsun 510. It may not be as powerful as a V-Spec but it is a respected classic that people will always love (or hate) and remember. I feel that way everytime I see a 2002 in good condition or even one that an owner has had for a long time and it is rusted pretty bad. They know what they have. I know what I have.
