i didnt notice it when we pulled Serbans blown avenier motor apart, but then again, the girdle was in pieces. where is the picture? how big is it? and i would also like to know why its there.
i believe that maybe its there from the factory, i mean maybe that the girdle itself was made by a different company., like if the girdle was made by a nissan sub division. ive seen the joey many times when taking apart motors. i kinda believe this theory because if you look closely at the girdle, the csting marks are very pronounced, unlike the block and it contents.
NO WAY!!! I GOT ONE FOR THESE KANGAROOs on my JDM DE too!!
I thought i was the only one with this damn kangaroo.....maybe that component of the motor was made by a Australian Company, thus the kangaroo pic. I would love to get the pic of it but i don't think i will be pulling down the upper and lower oil pan to get you a picture of it....lol
fyi all the girdles on all the engines have it jdm or not. it appears on a few parts on the car. one of them sometimes is the tranny. sometimes on upper oil pan. the explanation i have heard is that it has something to do with austraila. not sure if the parts are made there or made in japan by an auzzie company or what. heck could just be some crazy engineers joke!!! if you guys really want to kow i will ask and find out.
Maybe the designer just likes kangaroos?? If anyone remembers the old "Amiga" computers, they had the names of B52's songs printed on the PCB, purely because the designers liked that band...
I noticed the kangaroo on the UK girdle as well. When turboing my friend's se-r last weekend. I thought it was funny, just not funny enough to take a picture of it
Yeah definitely a Dinosaur, the kangaroo has the stomach a little lower and has the hind legs closer to the ground, LOL. Also, the kangaroos head ain't soo big and the kangaroo has ears. I can't believe this, trying to find out what it is, hahaha.
It's weird isn't it. i have seen that on both my JDM motors.
It's a Kangaroo, cause it stops the caps from hopping. The Kangaroo jumps up and down opposite to the pistons to keep things in check.
Not to be a dick, but it's a Bearing Beam. A gridle or girdle is a single piece encompassing the big end caps (Mitsu 4G63, Honda etc), and may or may not also tie to the skirt of the block. The Bearing Beam just gives axial support to all the bearing caps and is a "bolt on".
